Hey! My name is Elizabeth Louis Creecy, and I love the Lord with all my heart, mind, and soul. I’m not sure about you, but I didn’t have the easiest childhood growing up. The first domino that fell in my life was my father’s sudden death, two months after my 7th birthday. After my father passed, most of my family followed suit. My dad was born in 1928 and had me when he was 61 years old. Can you imagine having a baby at that age?
Unfortunately, constant death was not the only thing I faced. I also faced sexual abuse from more than one-person, emotional abuse, physical abuse, and verbal abuse. Like many, I was told the abuse I faced was not abuse and to stop making a big deal out of it. Even the sexual abuse was minimized, which forced me to keep much of the abuse to myself. Satan used those secrets to begin destroying me. How did it manifest, you ask? First, through a life-threatening and life-consuming eating disorder, accompanied with selfishness, anger, tremendous fear, a hardening heart, and extreme self-hatred. Some days I couldn’t even bear leaving the house because I hated myself so much.
To make matters worse, I was told and led to believe that I was stupid, worthless, fat, and ugly, as I would hear those words spoken over me daily for more than a decade. I heard it so much; I began to believe my worth was only to have sexual relations with people. I bought a lie from Satan! Some of you have as well! I felt worthless, ashamed, lost, and in unconquerable pain. But, the Father honored His Word and took it all from me when I began cultivating a real relationship with Him.
In my mid-twenties, I was tired of it. After meeting Jesus on a game reserve in South Africa, I decided to change and follow the Lord. (Read about that experience here).
I was raised Methodist and loved Jesus, but I didn’t understand how to have a relationship with Him until two individuals decided to walk with me and teach me. I am forever grateful to them. One of the first things I did while learning how to cultivate a strong relationship with the Lord is I went back to therapy, which I had been doing on and off since age 11. Now, I’m not sure if God wanted me to or not, but He redeemed it, nonetheless. While it helped, it didn’t get me to where I wanted to be. I wanted to be free from all the pain of my past. I wanted to let go of the victim mindset. I wanted everlasting joy, peace, and security, which only the Lord can bring! What did I do? I went and earned my M.S in Positive Psychology, hoping that maybe the therapist I had seen didn’t understand me. God also told me to go and earn that degree too. In grad school, I began independently learning about the spiritual components that hinder one’s development and that psychology has no antidote to what people want. Only God the Father has that!
I share this because it’s essential for you to know I was not the person I am today until the Lord became the center of my world. The Holy Spirit is who changed me! I know many of you are looking for answers, but those answers are only in Lord Jesus. It is through Jesus that I became free. Free from the pain, torment, and trauma of my abuse. You can be free too!
I know what it is like to have severe Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, but I also know how the Father’s love and ways will renew your mind in ways you cannot even fathom. It’s my hope that at Renew Ministries, you can learn how to apply God’s Word – both the application and the law – to your life.
Suppose you want freedom and everlasting peace, then YOU MUST make different choices. And each day, one of those first choices must be allowing the Lord into your heart and life. You must choose to lay down your life and be obedient to the Lord, and it’s there that you will find all that you are looking for, I promise!
Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it. What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?
(Matthew 16:24-26 NIV)
My quick disclaimer: It has taken me years to feel at peace with my past. It’s one that is gross, painful, disgusting, and heartbreaking. Many have such a history, and unfortunately, many are keeping their past a secret too. Secretes like these can destroy a person. I know it did for me. Perhaps that is why the Father wants His light to always reflect through us. But sometimes, it’s hard to do that. For me, I didn’t know how to do it because no one talked about it, and I didn’t know the Lord’s ways well enough to do it on my own.
I encourage you to be mindful of any judgmental or uncompassionate thoughts. As believers, we are to love just as Jesus loves us (John 13:34). I ask you to remember that as I share my life stories and others with you. If you find yourself ONLY disgusted, angry, and mean towards the humans in these stories that the Devil used or the events’ facts, then you have missed the point.
For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places (Ephesians 6:12).
I am sharing what and how the Devil can impact people and how to handle and navigate harrowing situations that very few want to talk about but many have experienced. It’s my hope and by the conviction of the Father to show you how to let God’s healing work in your life, as well as a more excellent way (1 Cor. 12:31). If God can do it for me, He will do it for you! You have to want it and welcome it! Are you ready?
But that still doesn’t answer the question of who am I?!
Well, I am a born-again believer who does my best to live in the Spirit. I live in a body that I do my best to nourish and take care of, and I have a soul that I work hard to develop and renew in a godly manner.
Here is what I do and what I am great at through the Holy Spirit’s power: I am a child of God who works as a pastoral counselor, mental health coach, and teaches the Word of God. Every coach has a rule book or playbook they follow. Soccer coaches will go to the soccer rule book. Whatever “rule book” a person utilizes in their life will affect their belief. Our beliefs control us more than you might think. I follow the Bible! I believe God’s Word contains ALL of life’s answers!
Most days, you can find me spending hours of my time praying, fellowships, studying, and reading commentaries to enhance my understanding and knowledge of the Lord. Jesus was a perfect example of life and how we should live, and I want to learn and do those ways to honor him as my Lord. I don’t want Jesus’ death to be for nothing.
As believers in Christ, we have the mind of Christ (1 Cor. 2:16), and we are to do things like Jesus would do. I hope to teach you godly wisdom based on biblical understanding and application, which will allow you to pick up your cross and follow Jesus wholeheartedly (Matthew 16:24-26). It’s by learning these small recalibrations that will make us warriors in Christ, defiantly overcoming and overthrowing evil. As a warrior for Christ, we must learn how to stand in spiritual warfare, submit to God, and bring more into God’s kingdom (Matthew 4:19).
It’s about learning how to live the Word of God right where you are. Life is not where church happens. It’s what typically happens outside of the church that people need help and guidance. We are walking things out. Life happens, and we have to learn how to do it as Jesus would do it. We will face suffering, but that doesn’t mean we have to lose our joy or peace. I believe in being a warrior for Christ, but that means you have to be willing to train, learn, grow, and be challenged. Are you ready to be strong, courageous, unafraid, and secure, knowing the Lord will always be with you (Joshua 1:9)?
Let’s learn together how to live and apply the principles of the Word to exactly where we are in life, allowing us to live as warriors in Christ while glorifying the Father in all that we do!
Every soldier has to go to Bootcamp. Are you ready to Renew your ways to the ways of the Lord (Romans 12:2)? I promise your life will significantly prosper and enrich with joy.
